Ràdio Falset is a municipal broadcasting station since 1986. It was created under the nomination of Ràdio Falset Independent,but in 1987 it became municipal. It was started by a group of young people with a great deal of strength and desires. It was a home-made radio, with no technical means and situated in a non-fitting place for emissions, without neither institutional assistance nor any kind of subventions, and with more illusion than technical preparation. All those problems had changed in a few years. Now, the new radio has nothing to compare with the old one but in the illusion we have, which is the same. Our radio is today a comunicative space that covers information local and comarcal very useful for the population, and offers a variety of programs for all kind of listeners. At this moment we are in the air 24 hours a day all the week. From Monday to Friday we use the radio fornula and on Saturday and Sunday, cultural and divulgation programs are broadcasted. On the other hand, radio makes a social function of integration and cohesion among people, especially the young. For this reason is considered as a cultural entity. Nowadays we have about a hundred collaborators with no wages and with  an average age of about twenty, not only from Falset but from the other bordering towns as well. This collective group of collaborators manage the radio with the consents of the municipal government, and had joined as an entity under the name of “Associació Cultural per a la creació d’emissores de ràdio i televisió a Falset” popularly known as the Radio Friends Association. This group is formed for those who makes programs and all other people with economic aportations or any other kind of collaborations such as helping in the sporadic activities, public debats (as we made before the municipal elections), concerts (at least one a year), expositions and conferences. This association not only makes radio but borrows its material to other entities or institutions (Priorat Comarcal Council, City Hall, Schools, etc.) not only materials but personal, basicaly technicals and announcers, for helping in any organizated activities. In this way we have participated as moderators in round-tables (Young Catalonia Congres, Women and Sport). We have collaborated every year in the Major Feast of Falset, and we have given technical support to Vila de Falset music band or theater groups. Other important function is the formation of new collaboartors. Every year in February, since 1989, the Radio Feast is celebrated. All the collaboratos gathered together in a brotherhood supper which serves for reinforc companionship. During this supper, the Major in the municipal government´s name, delivers the “Gregoriets” a reward  with no monetary value but is an award to the collaborators task. The rewards delivered are: -         best collaborator -         best technical -         best voice -         best program -         more audience program -         an honorable mention from the board The first four rewardsare given according to the votes of the collaborators, they vote in the same supper. The fifth according to statistical polls (what is said in the street) and the last one is given by  the board to collaborators who satnd up in their duties but are not rewarded in votations. One of the most significabt advanced in the radio is the technical aspect. Being a radio with few economical resources, the technical fact had always growing according to the knowledge and investigation desire of all the technical team, amateurs and students, that had converted this municipal radio in one of the best technicaly equiped of their kind. Since 1992 the musical programing works totaly automatic, and in Spring 1998 a computer was instaled with a system developed by a collaborator. At the begining of 2000 this system was  perfectionated and is used for the total control of broadcasting and management.
